I also enjoy writing video game reviews for a few reasons. I want great games to receive the recognition they deserve. I want to use my English language skills. It is a way to explain my perception. And lastly, I want to provide proper reviews with a somewhat detailed analysis for other who are interested in buying the reviewed game. If you look at my reviews so far, you will find, that I have mostly left positive opinions. This can be explained by the fact, that I do not play bad games long enough for me to properly review.
I started writing video game reviews in 2016 starting with Waves. A year later, I had the opportunity to hold a presentation in English class about writing reviews, where I also learnt how to properly write one. For the presentation, I wrote my review about Rise of the Tomb Raider. This is where you will also find a break in the writing style compared to the previous opinion pieces.
My reviews usually follow the same structure. Starting with the title of the review, the release year of the game, my time spent in the game and my rating out of 10. Then follows general information about the game such as genre, developer and publisher. The main part starts with a general overview of the plot without spoiling the contents of the media. Following this in ascending order of importance are my analysis of gameplay, graphic, world, and sound design, and story telling. The opinion piece ends with a summary of the main points and my recommendation.
My reviews are published on Steam, in case anyone is interested. I also enjoy discussing and defending my arguments and invite anyone to do so who wants to challenge my views.
