In summer of 2019 I tried bouldering for the first time after a visiting friend wanted me to go. At first it was just for fun, like for many tourists who just wanted something to do. We also didn't really know what we were doing. After few times with another friend, I realized I enjoyed it way more.
It was time to buy my own shoes and chalk. For me, the routes were not merely fun, they were challenges. Each route had a clear target, to reach the top hold. I want to improve. I want to be able to top every boulder I encounter. Of course this needs constant training which I am willing to invest. The dopamine boost after completing a self set challenge is reward enough.
So far I would consider myself a mid-level boulderer. Something I haven't done yet, is bouldering or climbing outside, which I definitely want to do. But who knows how this develops in the future.
